  • Not a pipeline boot!

    2

These boots are very comfortable and lite weight but not made for heavy construction. I work for a company installing natural gas pipelines. We spend a lot of time in the mud, dirt, asphalt and in all weather types sometimes 14-16 hours a day. I wore these boots for around two months before the inside liner started to come apart. The soles were starting to wear prematurely and missing chunks of material. Two of the eyelets had started coming off as well. I would say these boots are made for a foreman who comes out to check the job site periodically. Pretty disappointed for an American made boot.

    Pretty good boots

I use these for general work like cutting trees, mowing, shoveling, etc. They seem pretty rugged so far and show no signs of wear. I was surprised that they weren't 100% leather---there is a panel on the sides of the upper cuff and on the tongue that is some kind of man-made material. I like the square toe-box and the room around my toes. They seem a little wider in the forefoot area than any other footwear I've owned, even though these are not the wide version. The heel seems a little tall or maybe that's because they have a higher than normal arch. They don't fit as well as Redwing workboots, which tend to conform perfectly to the feet. I think the Mt Vernon's are a good value---if purchased on sale.

6 months in , leaks and holes in leather

I bought the Mt Vernon 8" composite toe work boots in November of 2018 .By June of 2019 I noticed holes in the leather just below the laces. I'm in the boots all day for work, it's rained almost every day this spring. The boots are no longer waterproof and " winter is coming Jon Snow "

Super comfortable, soles are poorly constructed

I work in excavating and it's a hard life for boots. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever had.. waterproofing works great and the leather held up well. However... not even 6 months in the soles split all the way across the boot under the ball of my foot. A coworker has the same boots and the same issue. Unacceptable for an American built boot that costs over $200. I've sworn by Keen work boots for their comfort but their durability is going to have to improve for me to keep buying them.

    Sceptical, first pair of Keens

Very comfortable boot but comes with a price. My first pair split and cracked across each sole after 4 months of moderate wear. Hoping the warranteed pair last longer

I have many and have had many Keen products. Currently I have 4 pair of current model Keen boots. Aprox 3 years ago my keen bradocks were in need of replacement. It looked like Keen had done a style change so I purchased the Mt Vernon 6" boot thought it was more durable looking. That shoe started to develop a mildew smell. Wow never before wearing the bradocks or the other waterproof keen shoes had my shoes STANK. So, I started pulling the insert washing it with bleach and wiping down the boot inside with bleach to kill the mildew smell, this went on for a month so decided to purchase the Mt Vernon 8" so I could switch out. These also developed the mildew smell. something is wrong with the shoes in this line. I have been a Big Big fan a Keen, especially "Built in America" series which is why I went from Brand X to Keen. These boots fit well, wear well, have a medium profile meaning your not wear a " drilling rig platform" you can actually wear these semi casual. Just can't understand the mildew smell, none of my other shoes which are keen manufactured have ever developed this STANK. Even when I pull my foot from the boot, the STANK is still in the boot, which makes me think that super waterproof sock sewn into the boot is doing its job, letting my feet sweat and passing the moisture out but trapping it in between the boot sock and the sole of the boot. I'm currently looking at other brands this can't go on. I like KEEN been my go-to boot, shoe company since 2005. I just can't deal with STANKY Boots. (they aint cheap either)

    Best boots ive ever owned

I farm for living. Boots are lite and comfortable. I broke a rivet on my last pair witch was a different style. Customer service took care of it in minutes. I had my new boots and a few days.

    Probably buy them again

I love how they support the ankles without strapping them down. The footbed is the key here. I don't have any cartalage in one ankle and also have a steel plate. With these boots I don't have to wear a orthotic device. The down side for me is the soles are hard and I understand why in a work boot. They do offer 6" boots with a softer sole but I need a 8" boot with steel toe. That said I'm a fan no other boot has fit me this well and I've had some top brand boots also have tied on several
