Trail-tested comfort. Fan-loved fit.
Whether you took your first hike yesterday or got your Appalachian Mountain Club membership back in ‘82, your feet deserve to be happy on the trail. Meet the Circadia, our newest collection of hiking boots and shoes.
CIRCADIA HIKING BOOTS AND SHOES
If the last couple of years of social distancing has taught us gym-goers anything, it’s that we can make the outdoors our personal gym—and love it. We’ve swapped our HIIT classes in a stuffy gym for long walks in a nature preserve. Or we’ve switched from strength sessions with a personal trainer to steep hikes and panoramic vistas.
At the beginning of the pandemic, most of us threw on a pair of sneakers because it was the easiest thing to do. But what started as an alternative to the usual has become the new normal. As treadmills gave way to trails, we realized it’s time to trade up to hiking boots. Our advice: Skip heavy, bulky boots with a long break-in time. You want protection and stability with a lighter, more sneaker-like feel. That’s where KEEN’s newest hiker, the Circadia, comes in.
To create the Circadia, we took everything fans love about our bestselling hiking boot, the Targhee, and simplified it. Part of the KEEN lineup since 2005, the Targhee is a KEEN outdoor classic. Made for adventures big and small, it has climbed mountains, explored islands, and helped us haul a car’s worth of gear to the beach and back. The Circadia combines the fit and durability that have made the Targhee so popular with a more pared-down design that will take you places.
The Circadia is available in a low-cut shoe and a mid-cut boot for extra support and ankle protection. The super breathable women’s Circadia Vent shoe adds mesh to the upper to keep air circulating and feet cool on strenuous hikes.
If you’ve graduated to multiday backpacking trips or have set your sights on that mountain’s peak, you might want to consider the Ridge Flex. It has the same fit and feel as the Targhee and the Circadia, plus the addition of KEEN.BELLOWS FLEX in the forefoot. Because the boot requires 60% less energy to bend than similar hikers, each step feels easier. When you’re hiking thousands of steps a day, that can really add up.
Is the Circadia the right choice for you? Check out some of its key features:
FIT FOR THE TRAIL
At KEEN, feet come first. That’s why the Circadia is built with our iconic original fit. Generous space in the forefoot gives your toes plenty of room to splay. A secure heel helps your foot stay put, and arch support keeps you comfortable on long hikes. We added air-injected KEEN LuftCore midsole cushioning that absorbs shock and keeps you feeling light on your feet.
BUILT TO HANDLE THE ELEMENTS
No matter how carefully you check the weather forecast, conditions can change quickly on the trail. The Circadia comes equipped with a KEEN.DRY waterproof and breathable membrane. So even if the snacks in your daypack get soaked, your feet stay dry. A grippy outsole keeps your footing secure when you’re hiking through sand, climbing over boulders, or double-timing it back to the restroom.
We’ve designed the Circadia to leave a lighter footprint on the planet. Its leather upper is Leather Working Group-certified, which means it comes from tanneries that have reduced their use of chemicals to help preserve and protect our water. A PFAS-free, water-repellent finish repels water just as well as forever chemicals, but without harming the planet. Our Eco Anti-Odor treatment uses natural probiotics that are safe for the environment.
No matter how you hike, there’s a pair of KEEN hiking boots that’s right for you. They all share the same iconic fit, tried-and-true comfort, and built-to-last durability. Where will you go next? On a road trip to the Grand Canyon or Yosemite National Park? To slot canyons, trails blocked by grazing elk, or rocky beaches guarded by watchful seals? Or how about a picnic where you eat cherries from a roadside stand while watching bald eagles nesting? Whatever you choose, the wild places are calling. So lace up a pair and get out there.
Our no-bells (just whistles) hiking boot
We took the most important features of our 17-year-old, fan-fave hiking boot and made a back-to-basics boot with the fit and durability you love.
KEEN LuftCore technology embeds a lightweight, shock-absorbing foam core inside the midsole for all-day comfort.
Higher-traction KEEN.FUSION rubber helps give you the grip you need for any trail surface, from dirt to gravel.
Environmentally preferred leather
Our Leather Working Group-certified tanneries reduce chemicals to help preserve and protect our water.
Famous comfort fit
Fans love our iconic Original Fit. Out-of-the-box comfort with a secure heel fit, arch support, and plenty of room for your toes to splay.
Every choice we make is a chance to minimize our impact on the planet. That’s why we only source leather from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries and why we’ve completely eliminated forever chemicals in our shoes. We’re on a mission to leave the planet better than we found it.
Made to keep
We want to make sure you’ll enjoy your hiking shoes for a long time by getting nit-picky about every detail: the stitching, materials, construction techniques, and tread.
